In early May you should have received a mailing from the County about a developer (Ashton Woods) that is trying to change the land use designation on a property very close to our homes. They want to change it from greenbelt/wetland conservation areas to an Estate Home designation. They are asking for approval for a change that would allow up to 140 homes to be built on land originally designated for 12 single-family homes. As one of the last remaining undisturbed natural areas in western Orange County, Florida, this land is a key segment of a regional wildlife corridor and provides a critical diverse habitat for native and migrating wildlife.
